School Days

Time flies when your having fun....but a'las...its time to hit the books!

My own school days were so long ago.  But I believe we should never stop learning.  Education can happen
everyday.  Find a subject that interest you and ....research it!  Become a master on the subject!

Here is a map that I pasted (a word we never use anymore) together when I was in the 4th grade.  It was a class project that I was quiet impressed with.  So it made it to my "save pile" at the end of that school year and...here it is...many many years later.

Here is my pasted masterpiece!  Each state is in its proper place!

It's funny how somethings will really jog your memory.  This map does for me. I remember being so pleased with myself after I completed this project.  I tend to gravitate toward projects that are easy... I need to work on changing that!

I really wanted to voice a prayer for all the kiddos (and their families)  as they begin a new school year.
Heavenly Father,
We thank you that we still have the freedom to educate our children.  As a new school year begins I pray for the protection of our children's innocence. I pray that all students will  be eager to learn.  And dear Father please, protect our kids.  We have already seen what a mad and crazy world we live in.  I pray that a protective hedge would be around each child whether they are educated in a classroom or in their own homes.  Dear Lord, please protect our dedicated teachers.  May their classroom represent order and discipline.   Please help them to find joy as they teach because that kind of joy is contagious.   And may Your truth always be upheld in this country.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen

Loyal Companion sends his greetings.  And when the yellow school bus drives past our home....he sends a shout out to all the kiddos!
Blessings to all....from the pasture!

We Like It Here!

Hey There....is very small.  She likes to get on top of things...so she can see!  She is on a window sill at my beautiful Momma's house. If something moves...she will bark ...like a big dog!

Loyal To A T does not like to look at the camera...ever.  She likes to get on top of things too...

Sweetheart and I went to an ice-cream social at our church one evening.  When we returned we found Loyal To A T on top of my art table.  She did a lot of rearranging and a little art while she was up there!

OK...I'm really winging it now.  I'm not sure why this picture went to giant size...but...hey these things happen.  Here is Hey There....she wanted to play art too.  I didn't let her spend too much time on this table.  This is the way my week has been.  We have enjoyed having them here....they have kept us on our toes!

Our crew returned this evening.  They brought me this cute jar filled with  Florida sugar sand and sea shells.  Hmm...I wonder what the grand dogs will do if they get on this table....I better move my jar to the kitchen!
Our little grand dogs will be going back to their home tomorrow.  We are going to miss them! We are also going to rest!

This picture was taken last night in Florida.  These beach sunsets are amazing. While looking at this beautiful sunset ...it so easy to express my gratitude to God.
May your week be blessed....and may you find time to express your gratitude for all the Lord has done for you......from the pasture...blessings.

Sure We'll Watch Them!

Everyone has left for Florida....well almost everyone!  Sweetheart and I get to take care of  the "grand-dogs."  This is Loyal To A T.  She is a honey.  She listens and she obeys.  She would do anything to protect her family.

This is Hey There!.  She is a blond....and that  really sums up her personality!.  She is young and has not learned the ropes yet....but she will!  She likes to sit in my lap, sleep in our bed, she even peeks under the bathroom door when I go in there....to be alone!

We walked over to see my beautiful Momma.  She was making her famous cinnamon rolls.  These sweet cakes just jump up into my mouth and then they stay with me....for a very long time.  The rolls I had at Christmas....they are still with me!

Sweet dough has to rise....there is nothing quick about yeast!.

Still waiting....can you see....there are several pans of these sweet temptations!

Alright....now we're cooking !   Only one thing left to do....um.  These are Sooo good!  Come on over to my Mamma's.  She will share.

These have been baked and are ready for their sugar glaze.  Oh my these rolls are good.  Can you smell them?  I will be trying to work these off....for a long while!
Blessings from our pasture....where I am out walking (and eating!)

Texas Weather...

This Texas heat is beginning to affect my girl chicks.  Their egg production is ...really down.  Apparently they heard through the chick grapevine that when it is really hot....they wouldn't need to show up for work!

The girls brought home some "home grown" pears!  Yum...I peeled quiet a few and froze them for pies and cakes ....this winter.  I put these out for Sweetheart to eat!  He loves fresh pears!  I enjoy drawing and painting them. (No I don't paint the pear...I paint the drawing that is trying to look like a pear!)
We are in desperate need of rain.  The pasture has turned to straw.  So when I saw these clouds forming....I really got excited.  Even the animals were acting a little funny.  I guess they do not remember what a dark sky can produce......but they are going to find out! (ya)

As I was taking pictures of the clouds I noticed that the pasture gulls were going a little crazy too.  They would fly above the pond, land, and then take off again only to circle around again before landing.  My precious Dad always referred to these birds as "his chickens"!

I let Loyal Companion come in...the heat has him feeling really sluggish.  The thunder started bee bopping around and he didn't even bark at it.  (He takes his job of protecting me very serious...even trying to attack thunder.  But not today.)

The heat not only affects the animals....it gets to me also.  I love beautiful hand-mades but I haven't felt like doing much handwork lately.  My very dear friend surprised me with this adorable and very old, totally handmade baby dress.  I love it!  This is what I need to get my creative juices flowing!  I can feel a project coming on!  Thank-you beautiful friend....you always know just what I need!

As I write this blog, it has started  pouring down rain!  Thank-you Lord!  You know better than anyone what we need .... and when we need it!   Blessings from the pasture where sweet manna is falling from the heavens....and we are all doing a happy dance!

Romance...in the pasture

As the sun was beginning to go down....on what was a beautiful (but hot) day, a dream was about to come true!

After being blind folded....by her Beau....beautiful niece was driven out to a secret destination....out in the pasture!

A very unique way to ....pop the question!  A memory never to be forgotten!

A lifetime was planned.

Ah....romance ....so fun...so exciting!  Sweetheart and I went down to the bridge after beautiful niece and her now fiance had driven off .  The lights,  flowers, the sparkle of glitter on the bridge....it was all ..so beautiful.  Loyal companion wanted to get on the bridge that he has been on so many times....but something was different this time....the bridge was a blaze with sparkle!  He shook all over as he took one tiny step on it....then turned around and jumped right off!
Wedding plans have begun.....I hear it just might take place....out in the pasture!  Love is so wonderful, it really does make the world go around!  It is a gift from our Creator and it is to be cherished!   Sending you love and blessings from our very romantic bridge and  beautiful pasture!

Mr. Donkey...Where are you going?

Can you believe how hot it is.  These flowers are about the only thing alive that have not wilted.  We get out early ... and try to get every thing done before the sun comes up.  Mr. Donkey decided this would be the perfect time to ... go exploring....maybe check out all the neighbors....near and far!.

Mr. Donkey took two trips this past week.  I went out early this morning to see if he....was still on the place.
He was!  But wait...where is he going....It appears he is thinking of another adventure!

Over the weekend, Momma, Sis and I were all traveling together.  As we drove down our road a grey looking animal caught my eye....it was Mr. Donkey in one the neighbors drive.  Sis called wonderful niece to see if she would go and retrieve said donkey.  ( She was overjoyed for the opportunity.)  (She was also excited to be woke up on her day off! )   She sent us a picture via cell phone...doesn't Mr. Donkey look happy?  I bet Wonderful Niece looks good too!  I'm not too sure how that halter is staying on...but it was early!

Blessings to you from our very hot pasture where Mr. Donkey may or may not be!  Stay cool and hydrated!

Cowboy/Cowgirl Camp

We started our camp with scrambled eggs for breakfast.  Sweet Grand helps cook them up!  They were great....(when you find a little shell you just flick it to the side!)

For a two year old boy these ducks mean only one thing....chase!
There is some things that a boy just has to do....show him a mountain and he will want to climb it....show him a rock wall and.....he will try really hard.

Every Cowgirl needs some horse riding lessons!  Grand had her first lesson!

She was not to sure why she had to ride like this but like a good cowgirl.....she did what her teacher said!
She rode in rough trot....and loved it!  Her teacher was great!
It was fun to watch her....she really enjoyed every thing that they did.
After the ride....she had to bath the  horse.  She even loved that!

This one watched the entire lesson!  Our little cowgirl was most impressed with his braids!

We had a wonderful week.  I love the excitement and wonder that the kiddos bring when they are around.  I hope that we are making a positive impact on their lives...as they are ours!  May your week be blessed....may you have little ones in your lives too!
From the pasture....
