Cowgirls...Rule!

 Well...it was one of those days...I was out feeding when I noticed that one of the heifers had had her calf.

She came up to eat but she did not bring her new calf ..Not at all unusual for a new Moma.  So...I went looking for it......

 This newbie can not remember where to find his dinner....he will figure it out!  

 After just a few minutes I realized that I was not the only one looking ....One of the other cows was looking for this new calf....and apparently...I was in the way...yikessss...I held my ground..after all I am....a cowgirl and a cowgirl never runs....from a cow.  And about now I realized that several ole girls were out to defend this newbie...where ever she is. One cow I call Barbie ran right next to me...kicking and bucking. I was seriously considering...running.  Maybe she thought I had the new calf in my pocket...After figuring out how I would get myself out of this pickle..(without ...running) I left the new calf to be..  This new one apparently has the entire herd...on her side!

This is not the newest...but she will look....something like this one!

Moments...

 Our Loyal Companion was soooo excited.  While I'm not sure that he understands about Christmas...I do believe that even the animals....offer praises to our creator.  He was very good....on Christmas Day.  Family was in and out all day long....and he....kept control!   

 While the Grands wished for snow....this was the only kind that we had ... here in the pasture. 

 Brand spanking new....born Christmas night. 

 The newbie's Moma was not interested in her picture being taken.. I understand....giving birth...really takes the pretty right out of a girl....so.....Miss Claudie....stood in for her....

He just could not stay awake....good night our sweet Loyal Companion

Busy times....

 Baked up some .. cookies ..And ..yes I ate a few. ( A few plus some..)

 Finished!  For our new...grand niece!  This should have been mailed....days ago. 

 He who burns  wood is twice warmed....once when he cuts it .. and then again when he burns it!  Sweetheart would add....you get mighty hot when you....cut it. Split it.  Haul it to store and then again when you haul it in to burn!  There is a lot of ....heat in that wood!   Hmmmm...I wonder if Phil...splits wood...maybe when he is not calling up the....ducks he is splitting wood!  Go Phil!

 Some o;f our ornaments....were treated to a ride on this old toy tractor.   OK....most of the ornaments were hauled all over the house...I love my Grands!

Baby Its Cold Outside!

 Wow....we are having some cooold weather.  Even the critters are cold!  This little darling is looking for her Moma....She needs a little snack ... to help keep her warm.  I love it when they walk right up to the camera....just to get a little ...look-see for themselves!

Not exactly chestnuts roasting on an open flame....but Spanish Peanuts on a....really hot ..heater..will be just fine!  Ahh...the aroma of....roasting Spanish Peanuts on a cold day....This is one of my...Daddy memories.  Sweetheart looked far and wide to find just the right peanut.. ..He really is my.. Sweetheart.....

 Loyal Companion....he is not impressed with the sweater.  Its either the fit....(kind of short) or the color...

 Poor darling....he says its the ...color.

When it is cold I like to bake....which in turn means...when it is cold....I gain weight....I really must break this cycle...

Christmas ... is getting closer...I love this time of year..extra weight and all!

DIY

 Occasionally  I need a work table ... outside.  I made this one....myself!  I was not able to photograph myself as I built this....but ....I will provide the instructions...should you be...inclined to..build one for yourself!

Find two saw-horses and set them side by side.  Find two boards and lay them on top of the saw-horses. Done!  You have made your very  own....work table!   You will feel proud....enjoy the moment!

 Now ...the reason for the work table....I am making these black vest for the Childrens Christmas program at our daughter's church.  Gliltter provides the ....sparkle.  Glitter can also wreck havoc on a wooden floor....so...I glittered outside...at my new...portable...work table!

 Just over the fence...from my work table...a few of the girl cows....munched away on .. hay...They heard the weather report....some really cold stuff is on the way...again!

 Stacked fire wood.  A common sight around here....when it is  cold!  Looks like we might need to ...stack a little more...before that cold wind gets here.

Loyal Companion expressed his thoughts on my new work table....He is wearing ....glitter!  ....Please do not tell... He is such a he-man. He sparkles in the sun-shine!

Turkey..Talk

 I needed one more memory of the...snow!  

Snow is ....rare in our area so when it happens....we must celebrate!

 A few days after the snow....we had....beautiful fall weather!  Mr. Squirrel left his nest to get a bite to eat!  He needs some Thanksgiving....corn!

 Mr Squirrel... is calling all of his kin....to the ....corn party!  This spring when the corn is planted in the garden....he will make another call ... It's a wonderful life....if you are a  squirrel! 

 Thanksgiving was spent with the family at my sweet Moma's home.  Every year....it is our tradition.  I had the honor....of cooking the turkey...and then I was given the "task"....of cutting the bird up....it is not my...thing!  I carved a bit...and made a really nice....mess..when Moma suggested that we sit the bird to the side...and let it....rest!  There was no hesitation on my part...I needed a little rest myself!  Look at those silly girls posing for a turkey picture!  There is no end...to what this pair of cousins....will do!

 More tradition....putting up Granny's Christmas Tree after Thanksgiving!  Our Grand took part this year....

 Oh...the things you can do with...Christmas lights....

 Memories...

Not only are we making lifetime memories....we are learning all of Granny's secrets to her delicious...Kolaches!

How blessed our family is....

During this wonderful season of the year....take time out to give thanks to the Lord for He is so good.  

Remember those who are...alone, sick, and sad....Make an effort to reach out to them...your day will be doubly blessed.

Thanksgiving Blessings (and bloopers!)

 How blessed we are.  Freedom...to worship as we desire.  Refresh your memory of why our founding fathers worked so hard...to get here..and survive... and be...thankful!

 Yes we had...Snow!  Woo-hoo...I had to get out in the...pasture...and ..play in it!

 The snow was too cold for the girl cows....but not cold enough to stick once it hit the ground. It was so fun to run...jump and...squeal...."I love snow!"  Age will never stop me from playing like a ...child!

 So....it is the evening before Thanksgiving.... I was visiting Mom at her house when I decided to make my pie crust for Sweethearts sweet-potato pie.  I make one at just about every holiday...He loves them.  I also make my crust.  However ...today...the dough is not acting correctly. .It just  will not roll out.Could I have messed up....(uhhh...yea..not too hard to believe that..)

 Here we go ... into the trash.  .  This recipe makes three crust. But not.....today!

 Ok...Moms turn...to impress....and of course...hers did not wind up in the...trash.

 Hmm....well....I'll try again....later...For now....Mom's crust will be....just fine!

A dear friend...blessed Sweetheart again..with some home grown fruit. I think I will make a lemon pie with these and use ... a graham cracker crust!

Brr....

 Brr?....No..BRRRRRR it is cold out there.  Not only do we have cold air...we have cold rain!  The girl cows are  sooo cold.  We gave them extra snacks to help them get through this.  But what they really want is....nice soft blankets!

 Before Old Man Winter blew in....the leaves were blowing everywhere.  I love to see the ground covered in...leaves!

 We needed this little snap shot of this beautiful tree....because ....in just a few...it will be....naked!

  

A few trees along the creek....are vibrant in the fall.  The girl cows did not get the update that....winter was on the way....See that one just resting....she should be storing up some calories. The fatter they are....the warmer they will be....( hmmm.... I wonder...no.. that can't work for humans.....because I am cold right now...)

Sweetheart brought home lemons.  A lot of lemons!
A very kind person shared his bounty with....us!  He raised these in his yard.  They are big and delicious!  I put a few in this egg holder...just because...I'm quirky that way!  I made a lemon pie today....and lemonade a few days ago....maybe...I'll make some lemon chicken tomorrow...before turkey day....Hmmm...I wonder what lemon turkey would taste like....

Ahhhh..Texas Weather...

 Pasture Art!  Now that the weather has...cooled (and warmed).. and soon to cool again....the trees are putting on their colors.

 Amazing....

Our little country church is ... in the country.  On the way to worship this past Sunday....Sweetheart and I were in awe of all of the beautiful trees along the way.  It really put us in a ..."worshipful mood."

 Loyal Companion found a new "toy"....I think he might like to grow one of these.  Poor ole girl cow that lost it....she just want look right without it...

I thought he was going to give me his new horn....I was wrong!  He took off running and hid it....from me I guess!

I love to make pies....on paper! When I do make pies (to eat) I make my own crust...and it really never looks to good.....but ...we still eat it!

I am thankful for many things....including .... you!
