Thanksgiving Blessings (and bloopers!)

How blessed we are.  Freedom...to worship as we desire.  Refresh your memory of why our founding fathers worked so hard...to get here..and survive... and be...thankful!

Yes we had...Snow!  Woo-hoo...I had to get out in the...pasture...and ..play in it!

The snow was too cold for the girl cows....but not cold enough to stick once it hit the ground. It was so fun to run...jump and...squeal...."I love snow!"  Age will never stop me from playing like a ...child!

So....it is the evening before Thanksgiving.... I was visiting Mom at her house when I decided to make my pie crust for Sweethearts sweet-potato pie.  I make one at just about every holiday...He loves them.  I also make my crust.  However ...today...the dough is not acting correctly. .It just  will not roll out.Could I have messed up....(uhhh...yea..not too hard to believe that..)

Here we go ... into the trash.  .  This recipe makes three crust. But not.....today!

 Ok...Moms turn...to impress....and of course...hers did not wind up in the...trash.

 Hmm....well....I'll try again....later...For now....Mom's crust will be....just fine!

A dear friend...blessed Sweetheart again..with some home grown fruit. I think I will make a lemon pie with these and use ... a graham cracker crust!
Happy Thanksgiving....may your day be filled with family, food and perfect pie-crust!
From the pasture....God's richest blessings to you!

Brr....

Brr?....No..BRRRRRR it is cold out there.  Not only do we have cold air...we have cold rain!  The girl cows are  sooo cold.  We gave them extra snacks to help them get through this.  But what they really want is....nice soft blankets!

Before Old Man Winter blew in....the leaves were blowing everywhere.  I love to see the ground covered in...leaves!

We needed this little snap shot of this beautiful tree....because ....in just a few...it will be....naked!

A few trees along the creek....are vibrant in the fall.  The girl cows did not get the update that....winter was on the way....See that one just resting....she should be storing up some calories. The fatter they are....the warmer they will be....( hmmm.... I wonder...no.. that can't work for humans.....because I am cold right now...)

Sweetheart brought home lemons.  A lot of lemons!
A very kind person shared his bounty with....us!  He raised these in his yard.  They are big and delicious!  I put a few in this egg holder...just because...I'm quirky that way!  I made a lemon pie today....and lemonade a few days ago....maybe...I'll make some lemon chicken tomorrow...before turkey day....Hmmm...I wonder what lemon turkey would taste like....

Thank you.. for ...stopping by.....From the pasture.. warm blessings to you!

Ahhhh..Texas Weather...

Pasture Art!  Now that the weather has...cooled (and warmed).. and soon to cool again....the trees are putting on their colors.

 Amazing....
Our little country church is ... in the country.  On the way to worship this past Sunday....Sweetheart and I were in awe of all of the beautiful trees along the way.  It really put us in a ..."worshipful mood."

Loyal Companion found a new "toy"....I think he might like to grow one of these.  Poor ole girl cow that lost it....she just want look right without it...

I thought he was going to give me his new horn....I was wrong!  He took off running and hid it....from me I guess!

I love to make pies....on paper! When I do make pies (to eat) I make my own crust...and it really never looks to good.....but ...we still eat it!
I am thankful for many things....including .... you!
Blessings....from the pasture...

Where Did Fall Go?

The weather man said....to get ready.  Look at nature stocking up on some....nectar...just hours before the cold weather was to come.  Hmmmm....

Here are two of the girls....they stayed up late the other night....and gave birth!  Something about cold weather...and newborn calves.  For some reason....it usually happens.  The newbies are hidden in tall grass.  I never did  find them....but they are out there.

All of the peppers have been picked.   I picked them so that the freeze would not get them!

Basil leaves and cilantro.  Smells sooo good in the kitchen!  These herbs will freeze...so..I picked what I  could!

Ahh man...... eggs will roll....The girl chicks are not really feeling the egg business along about now.  I think, like this egg....they are taking a little.....break!

A few of the girls came up to do some yard work!  I took this from our front porch...it was sooo cold!

The frost came and went....and took my zinnias with it.....so .. until next spring....we will just have to enjoy
pictures!
Well....ready or not....the cold is here.  Hold onto your hats....that wind is ...brisk!
Warm blessings to you....from the pasture!

Better Than An Average Saturday

The sun was coming up....it was early Saturday morning.  Sweetheart jumped  ( rolled ) out of bed....with plans to watch the sun-rise from our front porch.  Within minutes he came running ( For our age we consider that pace...a run.)  into our bedroom  urging me to come look....this is what we saw.  It was a very large rainbow with incredible color.  It was...amazing!  What a great way....to start our day!  Thank you heavenly Father....for beauty.

I caught the girl cows....just enjoying their day....laying around re-chewing....their grass!  It was relaxing just to see them....so restful. Thank you Lord for....peace.

In my garden....there is some...color!  They are not too good to eat....but they are sure nice to look at!

More color in my ..flowerbeds!  ( In truth I have only two blooming zinnias...but they are so beautiful...and I did share...)

As this day was drawing to a close....God lit up the skies...with this awesome sunset...
In every way...God is worthy of our praises.  Take time to talk with Him....it will change your life.
From the pasture.....blessings to you.

New Life

I woke up this morning...did my usual  ( Which means....I went to the kitchen.... fixed me some breakfast...and looked out in the pasture..just to look...its a habit ..)   This is what I saw!  I have been keeping an eye on this cow because I knew she was ready...to have this calf.  Can you see him?  It is the little dot to the left of her.  Good Momma's stay pretty close to their new ones.  There are meanies out there....coyotes, buzzards, and who knows... what else!

Loyal Companion...was over joyed....he is So jealous of anything that takes my eyes....off of him!

By this afternoon....Knothead  (that is her name... she has a knot on the top of her noggin!)  brought her new one up for inspection....He is not too sure what I am...or what I'm doing with the camera... he stayed very close to his Momma.. Of  course....I already ... love him!  Disclaimer...those are not horns on Knothead.  She was standing in the perfect position to have....limb-horns!

While out....looking....at the newbie....I came across this.  It is a watermelon plant growing in the pasture.  It want have time to produce before a frost....but it is fun to watch it grow....Seems like new life is popping up everywhere...out here in the pasture!
Speaking of "new life" don't forget to watch (or listen ) to the Billy Graham film that will be aired all over America on Thursday and Friday.  This will be an event that everyone needs to hear.   It.could ...change your life!
From the pasture.....God's richest blessings...to you!

As Normal As It Gets....

The creek is back to normal...and the girls cows and Mr. Donkey came up for a little "look see."  I was able to get this distant picture from our back door...Mr. Donkey is going for....moss.  Moss looks like course hair...ouuuuuuu...

A little snapshot of our newest...newbie!

Caught you....I know it doesn't look much like a garden...but it is....and you my love are in it....
I have winter greens growing....I am about the only one who eats them...so....whats a few weeds...among friends!
That large stump to the right is a little treasure from Hurricane Ike!  We kept it around....for good measure...of course. (And to hold the fence up.)

Barn Kitty is out and about.  I'm not a cat person...They get in my way when I'm walking....I don't understand why they do that....But.... this kitty ...I love.  We rescued her when someone decided to drop her off and our dogs decided to ....eat her....  For Shame!!!

Thought I would show you where Barn Kitty lives....She has some wall art to look at!  We like to look at it too....we are not strange.........don't you know!
We had an amazing service at church Sunday.  I so enjoy hearing of Jesus Christ, "saving grace."  Billy Graham will have what could be his final service... on the TV this Thursday.  Some stations will air it on Friday....it will be....amazing!
Wonderful blessings to you.....from the pasture..
