A Sweet Outdoor Wedding Shower

We have had promises of rain.  But no rain.  We really need rain.  I was sure that it would rain on Saturday, as my niece had planned to host a wedding shower for one of her childhood friends.  But...it did not rain!  In fact the weather was absolutely perfect!  The canines in the family attended.  For the most part they were not impressed.

Everything was beautiful!  The bride to be was very gracious and beautiful!

A quilt was made and given.

The shower went without a hitch.  But there was a little funny...Just as the shower was getting started, someone drove into the drive way honking their truck horn...WHO would do such a thing at a shower?   Well, it was innocent...it was a salesman just trying to get someone to come to his truck so he could make his pitch!   Made for a good laugh!

Blessings from the pasture, hope you are having a blessed day!

How to...

How to Fall Off Of A Porch

Unless you have perfected this experience already, this little "how to" may give you some helpful hints, should you ever be interested in taking your own plunge.

First: You will need to clean your porch.  You will need a broom.

Second:  Invite your faithful friend to come and sit on the porch while you sweep.

Third:  You will need to notice something very precious to you.  For me, I noticed the little red bird feeder that my Dear Dad made for me several years ago. (It is a "to be" project.  You know... it needs to be hung in a tree... later.)

Fourth:  While you are sweeping, remember the bird feeder and miss step to keep from stepping on it.

Fifth: Now that you have lost your balance, reach for something very unstable.. yes a little chair will do.

Next:  As the unstable chair tries to run away from you ... hang on to it....with all your might.

Then:  As you and the chair head swiftly to the edge of the porch...don't let go of the chair...it's your duty to save it...

While:  You are flying over the edge... wonder if anyone is watching this episode of your life.

After:  You have landed ... its ok to question whether or not you are still among the living.

Because:  Your faithful friend has taken this opportunity to lick you in your face and breathe his horrible breath into your nose...

You know ... yep I'm still kicking!

What's happening here?

I had intended to share with you a how to.  How to fall off your own porch.  With all of the sadness that has been happening in our little world, I decided that I would instead ask for prayer . A silly little how to can wait.  Please pray for West Texas.  So many are affected by this tragedy.  Please pray for the people that were affected by the Boston bombers.  Please pray for America.

Pasture walk

I needed a little walk in the pasture after our busy weekend.  A peaceful walk is all I need to reduce any stress that I have accumulated.  I went down to the creek and studied the way the water has washed away the soil from its roots. It's kind of creepy but also really neat.  My Dad said years ago, when he was growing up that they would drink out of this creek if they were thirsty.  I'd have to be really thirsty.  I know what the cows do in it...

The tall pines are so mesmerizing.  These have been here for quiet some time.  Brother is still logging out here.  The trees need to be thinned out every few years.

While out, I came across something that made my mouth water.....a berry!  In just a few months I'll be able to pick more black berries than can be imagined!  Can't wait...but if you eat a red one...get ready to really pucker.  It will turn your mouth inside out!

These weed flowers come up every year.  I love them!  I picked a few for the house.  They also have a really sweet smell.

Wishing everyone who reads this little corner of the blog world a wonderful day.

From the pasture...blessings.

Busy Times

Could we have had a better weekend?  The weather was perfect for working outside.  That is what Sweetheart and I did all weekend.  Wonderful Son was here for the long haul.  On Saturday my faithful brother-n-law came and offered some much needed help.  With all hands on deck...we were able to get some projects completed that have been ...on the back burner for quiet some time.  How grateful we are for our family.

The grands came up this weekend.  They are the spice of our lives.  Their Granny (my sweet Momma) gave them some old food to play with and I was able to get a picture of them playing "kitchen" on the gazebo.  Later they played in a grove of  cane (they call it bamboo) that my Dad planted years ago. They had me come into their pretend house that they have in there.  I love to watch, listen and pretend right along with them. They are making memories for life and filling our lives with pure joy!

I went for a walk in the pasture this evening.  I came across this "pasture bouquet."  To pretty to pass up so I took a photo to share with you!

I leave you with a picture of my loyal companion doing what he does best...barking!

Blessings...from the pasture.  I pray your week is filled with wonderful joy!

Earth gives birth

I went out on this cold morning and checked my garden.  Woohoo the rain and a little sun brought forth my squash.  There in my raised bed was new life!

In the next bed I had some burgundy green beans.  I know, I have no ideal how a green bean can be brugandy.  The package called them a heirloom and I fall hard for anything heirloom.  Even if I care nothing for the product if its "heirloom" I want to try to raise it.

The new calf that was born last week came up this morning with his Moma.  With camera in hand I ran out to get a photo.

I've been working on a little project for a newborn.  Just a little more hand work and I'll have this little diaper shirt finished.  I embroidered the little rosebuds in between where the buttons will go.  I love to make hand mades for little babies!

It has been a busy week with some really crazy weather.  It keeps life interesting!
May you be blessed as we began another weekend.  Sweetheart and I will be at worship service this Sunday.  Hope you have a place of worship that you and your family will be at as well.  It really does keep life interesting!

Texas

The saying is still true about Texas weather.  Stick around long enough... This morning I was wearing shorts and rubber boots.  By early afternoon a coat was added to my ensemble.

I have one brother.  He is a logger.  Early this morning I could hear the faint sound of a chain-saw and knew that brother was out in the woods cutting some timber that needed to be cut.

I grabbed the camera and put on my rubber boots and took off to find him.

After crossing the creek (rubber boots) I found brother and his step daughter.  (She works with him pulling the cut timber out with the tractor.  Her dog sits on the tractor seat with her while she works. So cute!)

I explained that I wanted to get a few shots of falling timbers.  Brother told me where he needed me to stand.  I was a little further away than I wanted to be.  I was getting all fixed to take the picture and while I was getting all fixed, the tree came down and was on the ground before I ever got the picture.  Well...that wasn't supposed to happen.

He started checking out another tree... OK..I thought I'll get another chance.  Again I was a little too far away to get some really good shots but at least I was ready.  I thought.    When they start to fall they come down fast.  I managed to get two shots of the tree as it was coming down.  But I found out  later that I didn't get them in focus.  So I have two fuzzy shots of a huge pine timber falling down.  Maybe I should stick to taking pictures of flowers.

The weather turned upside down after I got back home. There really is no place like Texas.
Blessings to you from the now cold pasture!

So ...it's a Monday

You know it's a Monday even if it's actually Sunday.  The Internet just would not work.  This morning I tried to post again...still no Internet.  Finally I think it's up and hopefully want go back on vacation before I finish this post!

The amazing colors of the wildflowers are so beautiful.  I know I have said that a time or two already but it's what I do.  Repeat...repeat...repeat.  Just ask Sweetheart he will confirm,  I'm a repeater.
I love to bring in bouquets and put them all over the house.  Thought I'd show you a few.  Some were picked last fall and allowed to dry.

We moved the girls to a greener pasture.  They were kind of excited.  I stood near the gap where they entered.  A few told me Thank-you.  A few kicked their heels up and ran full speed past me.   They are so sweet.  Sometimes.   I noticed a new baby this afternoon.  I did not have the camera so just do a mental picture.  Brown, really big eyes, trying to figure out just what to do with four legs. Walking and hopping all around his Momma.

Sweetheart and I attended our church Sunday.  The worship service was awesome.  The people are also so precious.  We have a great love for this little country church.

May your day and week be blessed...
From the pasture...blessings to you.

The rains came

The beautiful spring weather disappeared when the rain came...and the cold weather moved back in.
The photo shots of the weeds did not show up on yesterdays post.  I will try again to get them up.  The weather did not upset the weeds. Our cows like the pretty flowers.  I know this is why they visit Mr. Good Neighbor's pasture.  He doesn't have any flowers!  (I don't like chemicals, so we have weed flowers.)

This is the first Iris to bloom this spring in this very old established bed of Irises.  These must have been planted by my great aunt.  This was her land before my parents bought it over 30 years ago.  In a few days this bed will be ablaze in beautiful blue flowers.

Here is my loyal friend.  Today he could sense that my mood was ... crummy.  (Cold weather does it to me)  He jumped around, barked at me, did everything he could to cheer me up... I got this picture of him trying to lift my spirits.  When I saw it on the camera,  I laughed .  He managed to pull me out of that meanie mood.  ...good dog!

Blessings to all.  Life really is good!

Blooming Spring

This spring weather has been so nice.  However, the oak pollen has not been so nice...to me.  I have never had allergies before this year.  I have them now.  I was sick a few weeks ago and could not seem to get well.  Well, it seems the oak pollen hit just as I was getting over the virus and wham...now I have allergies!  So far the over the counter stuff is helping my watery eyes, dripping nose, and sneezing.  It is not helping my stopped up ears and my really meanie mood!  Wonder if they have anything for that...

I went out this afternoon and planted a few things in the garden.  It is supposed to rain and hopefully the rain will sprout my seeds.  I fed all of the animals after my garden stint and noticed that the weeds are absolutely beautiful!  I decided to get a few shots with the camera.  You never know when the rains might be massive sending hail and floods that could wash away all of our weeds.

Blessings to everyone, especially those with allergies!

God will be praised!

In God's word in the book of Psalms 96: 11-12 the scriptures tell us that God's creation will praise Him.

A few days ago Sweetheart and I were out doing the usual...looking for the herd.  We found ourselves way out in the woods.  We went as far as the mule would go.  Like I said we were in the deep woods.  Sweetheart took off on foot doing his cattle call thing.  He got further and further away.  I decided to do a little walking myself.    The next thing I knew my dog and I were down at the creek.  I noticed something unusual and moved to where I could get a better view.  What I saw was a very large and massive blooming Dogwood tree.  It was awesome!  I realized that I was witnessing nature praising God.  I was in an area that people never go.  This tree was created just for God's good pleasure and it was doing all it could to praise it's maker!  Wow!

Sweetheart and I, and two of my other favorite boys were together in the worship service this morning.  It was a special service as we celebrated the empty tomb!

Praising God in His beautiful green pastures!
